This revitalized workforce system will be characterized by Three Hallmarks of Excellence:

  • The needs of business and workers drive workforce solutions;
  • One-Stop Centers (or American Job Centers) provide excellent customer service to jobseekers and employers and focus on continuous improvement; and
  • The workforce system supports strong regional economies and plays an active role in community and workforce development.

How WIB-KC Achieves WIOA’s Three Hallmarks of Excellence:

  • To meet the needs of business and workers, we collaborate with local businesses, community leaders and educational institutions to create training programs geared towards today’s in-demand occupations and educate individuals to achieve the skill sets required to fill those occupations.
  • To provide excellent customer service to employers and jobseekers, we offer numerous services in our local American Job Center (AJC) including Job Postings, Resume Assistance, Skills Assessments, Veteran’s Affairs, WIOA funding for training, and referrals to various partner agencies.
  • As a Partner of Workforce WV, WIB-KC maintains strong relationships with our training providers, local businesses, and community agencies. In doing so, we cultivate a sustainable workforce and grow our local, diverse economy.

Vision of WIOA

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress, by the One Hundred Thirteen Congress of the United States of America, at the Second Session, on Friday, January 3, 2014, by wide bipartisan majority.

The Workforce and Innovation Opportunity Act amends the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 to strengthen the United States workforce development system though innovation in, and alignment and improvement of, employment, training, and education programs in the United States, and to promote individual and national economic growth, and for other purposes.

WIOA presents an extraordinary opportunity to improve job and career options for our nation’s workers and jobseekers through an integrated, job-driven public workforce system that links diverse talent to businesses. It supports the development of strong, vibrant regional economies where businesses thrive and people want to live and work.
